Herencia 2005

This magnificent Tempranillo originates from Pagos de Anguix, an estate situated at over 850 metres above sea level, in the very heart of Ribera del Duero. An elegant varietal born of patience and experience that expresses the authentic richness of this exceptional terroir.

The wine still presents an intense, brilliant red colour, but with subtle shades of brick indicative of its maturity.

Surprisingly complex on the nose. Initial notes evoke ripe black plums and confected cherries with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. As the wine opens up, tertiary notes characteristic of long bottle ageing begin to appear. Distinctive mineral aromas emerge, with slightly minty, balsamic notes coming through that complement the striking bouquet.

Very lush, lovely, warm sensations on the palate. Big tannins, nicely rounded by long ageing, make for a wonderfully pleasant and appealing texture. The finish – truly long and intense – enhances the overall complexity.

An undeniably well-aged wine, ready to be enjoyed now, at the height of its splendid maturity.
