J&C Prime Brands presents the first Pagos de Anguix wine from the group’s new winery in Ribera del Duero: Pagos de Anguix 10 Months 2017. The group made up of Juvé & Camps (DO Cava), Propietat d’Espiells (DO Penedès), and the distributor Primeras Marcas has embarked on its first winemaking project in the province of Burgos.

Pagos de Anguix is located in the eponymous village in Burgos, in the far north of the Ribera del Duero appellation of origin. The winery-owned vineyards comprise 77 hectares, of which 35 are organic. These belonged to Campos Góticos, the winery adjacent to Pagos de Anguix and one of the region’s renowned organic winemaking pioneers, which J&C Prime Brands also acquired.

The Pagos de Anguix vineyards lie at an altitude of 850 metres and are between 20 and 40 years old. These parcels, planted with Tinto Fino, give birth to wines that are meant to last, but can also be enjoyed right now. Pagos de Anguix’s winemaker, Pedro Elena, describes the wines as having tension, with an emphasis on fruit and perfectly integrated oak, savoury, with just the right amount of maturity.

Pagos de Anguix is the realisation of the Juvé family’s dream of making wines in DO Ribera del Duero; a winery that consolidates the family’s commitment to excellence, sustainability, and the region. It marks a new chapter built on a deep respect for the winegrowing heritage of Pagos de Anguix and the desire to make exceptional wines.

For Meritxell Juvé, CEO of J&C Prime Brands, “Pagos de Anguix is a dream come true. A firm and solid commitment to a region we have admired for years. The Pagos de Anguix team has shown great love for these vineyards and respect for the terroir – something our technical team supports wholeheartedly – and this promises wines of outstanding potential.”
